Model testing of road tunnel ventilation in normal traffic conditions

Miroslav Sambolek, Mladen Čizmek

Abstract

The tunnel ventilation testing was conducted on the model of the Sveti Rok Tunnel. The purpose of the testing was to obtain information as needed for the design of a proper tunnel ventilation system. This information is particularly significant because the longitudinal ventilation system is to be used, which is not often the case in such long tunnels with two way traffic, but will be applied in this tunnel until completion of the second tunnel tube. The testing procedure is described and ventilation results, with the system's efficiency in normal traffic conditions, are presented.
